Graveside services for Bobby F. Pettit, 88, Garland Texas resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 29, 2018 in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, OK and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Bob was born to Frank and Norene Pettit on 25 February, 1930 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of 60 years, a; daughter Teri Sager and husband Ken of Garland, TX; son Craig Pettit and wife Janice, of Princeton, TX; and sister, Marilynn Sandford and husband Ed of Rahma, Colorado; along with 5 grandchildren, David Sager and wife, Mel of Hobart, OK; Melissa Regan and husband West, of Mesquite, TX; Jarrod Pettit and wife Rebecca of Lucas, TX; Julie Pettit of Dallas, TX; Jordan Pettit of Allen, TX; and 3 great grandchildren, Deacon, Lyla and Camille. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK until his 2nd semester junior year and had to go into the service. He enlisted in the Air Force and spent 45 months at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. After he was discharged, he finished college in 1955 with a degree in math and physics majors and a biology minor. After graduation, he went to work for Carter Oil Company on a seismograph crew for approximately 4 years and then for the US Postal Service for 2 years as a mail carrier. He then worked for military contractors for approximately 19 years as an electrical design engineer. During his engineering career, he designed a fail-safe testing laboratory testing facility for military equipment. He presented a paper on the facility at the Institute of Environment Sciences at Anaheim, California during the early 1970's, and additionally worked on the NASA Apollo program during that time. During his last 5 years as an engineer he started investing in apartments. He quit his job as an engineer when he was 50 years old and spent the rest of his life as a real estate investor. His primary focus was being a Christian servant in the Church of Christ. He spent 30+ years as an elder at the Buckingham Road Church of Christ in Garland, TX. He loved teaching the Bible and taught Bible classes at church and a multitude of home Bible studies.
