Doris Faye Shepherd

Funeral services for Doris Shepherd, 83, lifelong Custer County resident, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 in the First Christian Church of Clinton. The service will be officiated by Daniel Mosburg, Jim Shepherd, Odie Nunley and Doyle Kinney. Burial will follow in the Butler cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Doris Faye (Snider) Shepherd, along with her twin brother, Dale Snider, was born July 26, 1934, in Butler, Oklahoma to Thurston and Gladys (Dunn) Snider. She was welcomed into Jesus' arms on Friday, October 27th, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. Doris was raised in Butler, where she also attended school. On December 29th, 1951, she married the love of her life, Roy Lee Shepherd in Butler, Oklahoma. They made their first home on a farm near Butler, and soon moved to the Barnitz Creek area, east of Butler. Doris and Roy spent the majority of their married years farming and ranching. After 53 years on the farm, they moved to Clinton. Doris was a faithful and active member of the First Christian Church in Clinton, where she belonged to the Christian Women's Fellowship. She loved music, playing the piano and spent many Saturday nights at the Country Jamboree with Roy. Some of her interests included quilting, crocheting and embroidery. She was also a wonderful cook and was especially well-known for her pies, cookies and homemade candy. Doris routinely walked three miles every day, enjoyed cheering for her favorite basketball teams, and fishing with Roy. Another one of her favorite pastimes was playing card games, especially Rook. Known as the family historian, she kept a diary for more than 50 years and organized a plethora of photo albums. She was fond of traveling, particularly to Red River, NM and Branson, MO. Above all, Doris loved to serve others and cherished spending time with her family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, Dale Snider, and brother Fred Snider. Doris is survived by by her husband of 65 years, Roy; daughter Debbie Mosburg and husband, Darrell, of Custer City, OK; son Jim Shepherd and wife, April, of Sulpher, OK; and son Randy "Runt" Shepherd and wife, Laura, of Butler, OK. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Snider, of Enid, OK; three brothers: Herschel Snider and wife, Norma Dean, of Bentonville, AR; Cecil Snider and wife, Juanita, of Owasso, OK; and Don Snider and wife, Vernell, of Weatherford, OK. Doris is survived by 14 grandchildren; Casey Holland, Kristin Williams, Courtney DeSpain, Jody Shepherd, Lauren Edmonds, Mackenzie Shepherd, Riley Shepherd, Tucker Shepherd, Gage Butcher, Sydney Butcher, Reid Butcher, David Mosburg, Drew Mosburg and Daniel Mosburg. Doris is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, who fondly referred to her as "Granny Great;" Austin, Tyler, Joseph, Haley, Jackson, Jace, Shiloh, William, Mariah, Jadyn, Maysen, Marlowe, Meadow, Adyson, Brittain and Asa, and also one great-great-grandchild, Peyten.
