Funeral services for Ruben Milburn Walker, 85, Clinton resident, will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 in the Clinton First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney and Jeff McDowell. Burial will follow in the Weatherford Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Milburn was born on April 25, 1929, the oldest of three children, near Fairview, Oklahoma to Ruben Sylvester and Violet (Culver) Walker. He passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton OK. He was raised in Fairview and graduated from high school in 1948. On July 9, 1948, Milburn married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Pool. Milburn was baptized at the Central Christian Church. While living in Fairview, Milburn worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and later Consolidated Gas Company. In 1958 the family moved to Weatherford, OK where he worked for Arkla Gas Company. In 1974 the family moved to Clinton, OK. Milburn continued working for Arkla at the gas plant near Butler where he retired in 1985 after 38 years of employment. Milburn enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, camping and gardening. He was skilled at repairing or building just about anything and was always willing to help someone in need. After his retirement, he and Betty enjoyed many years of traveling with their travel trailer and travel club, spending their summers in Colorado and winters in South Texas. His favorite trip was their adventure to Alaska and the return trip home down the Washington and Oregon coast. Milburn was an active member of the Federated Church while living in Weatherford and the First Christian Church after moving to Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dean, He is survived by his wife Betty, of the home, his daughters Linda and husband Al Syverson, of Victoria, TX, Carolyn and husband Jimmy Grant, of Shoreline WA, his son Bruce and wife Terrie, of Weatherford, OK, his sister Darlene and husband Dale Beaty of Chester, OK, his sister-in-law Shirley Castle of Garber, OK, his grandchildren, Matthew Syverson, Tamara Syverson and Tony Szatkowski, Lane and Katie Walker, Kelsey Walker, Carey Grant and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or Parkinson's research.
