A.B. P. Schmidt

Funeral Services for A.B.P. Schmidt, 79, of rural Corn will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 6, 2013 in the Bible Mennonite Brethren Church in Cordell, OK, officiated by Kevin Creed, assisted by Tim Sandy and Charles Regier. Burial will conclude in the Bible Mennonite Brethren Cemetery east of Bessie, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A.B.P. Schmidt was born October 2, 1933 to A.R. and Freda (Krewall) Schmidt near Cordell, Oklahoma and passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in a farm accident one mile west and 3 miles south of Gotebo, OK. A.B.P. was raised in the Cordell area and attended a country school through the 8th grade and then attended Corn Bible Academy in Corn, OK, graduating in 1951. He farmed with his father until he married Bernice Faye Reimer on February 25, 1955 in Corn, OK. They made their first home in Topeka, KS and lived there for a short time and then moved back to Washita County. They have lived and raised their family and farmed the same place for over 55 years. They were active in raising wheat, cotton and cattle. He was also involved in custom farming as well as being a fertilizer dealer for over 20 years. He has been a long time active and faithful member of the Bible Mennonite Brethren Church in Cordell, serving in many capacities. He has been on the board of education for Corn Bible Academy for over 33 years and has been active with the Mennonite Disaster Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alfred, Edwin, Karl and wife, Rubena, Manfred and wife, Frances. He is survived by his wife, Bernice of the home, one son, Buddy and wife, Chris of Corn, three daughters, Christine Loewen and husband, Neal of Corn, Eileen Thompson and husband, James, of Burdett, KS, Gretchen Reimer and husband, Tom, of Hesston, KS; two sisters-in-law, Frances Schmidt and Clara Schmidt, both of Cordell, Ok. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Lacy Brown and husband Casey, April Chambers, Lucas Schmidt and wife Kourtney, Sandy Schmidt, Dustin Thompson, Mandi Thompson, Kreyson Loewen, Karis Loewen, Libby Reimer, Jake Reimer; 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor Chambers, Carson Brown, Ellie Schmidt, Aydin Loewen. The family has suggested those wishing to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Bible Mennonite Brethren Church or Corn Bible Academy. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. ~ 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
