Funeral Services for Ameta Davis 83, will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Kiesau-Lee Memorial Chapel in Clinton, Oklahoma with Carlin Gray officiating, and under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery. Ameta Davis of Houston, TX, formerly of Clinton, OK, passed away Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at Sundance Memory Care at Towne Lake in Cypress, TX. She was born March 10th, 1936 to the late Hubert Ray and Ameta May (Ferguson) Noblitt of Arapaho, OK. She was reared in the Vicksburg community and received her education at Arapaho, OK. She graduated from Arapaho High School in 1954. On May 30th, 1954 she married Bob Davis who was working for Atlantic Refining Co. on location in Anadarko, OK. During the next 6 years, they lived in various locations in Oklahoma, west Texas and New Mexico. Two daughters were also added to the family during those 6 years. In 1960 the family moved to Clinton, OK in order to provide a more permanent address for the girls where they lived for 53+ years before they moved in 2013 due to health issues. Ameta worked for the Clinton Daily News for 9 months and then went to the accounting office of Bill's Bakery in Clinton. When that business closed in 1966, Ameta went to work at Western Plains Library System in June. She worked for the library system for 38+ years until her retirement in 2004. Ameta enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, camping, traveling and sightseeing. She collected anything associated with lighthouses. She also had a real liking for a Corgi dog named "Lady." Ameta and Bob were active members of Broadway Heights Missionary Baptist Church. Ameta was church treasurer for 36 years. She also loved teaching children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Ameta resided at Autumn Leaves of Cy-Fair in Houston, TX and Sundance Memory Care at Towne Lake in Cypress, TX. She fought a long, hard battle with Alzheimer's and Dementia until her death. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Ray and Ameta May Noblitt, one brother, Henry Noblitt, and two sisters, Shirley Noblitt and Moeta Davis. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob Davis; two daughters, Sharon Gray and husband Carlin of Pine Bluff, AR and Linda Carroll and husband Philip of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Brad Carroll and wife, Tara and their children Bryson and Allison Carroll of Derby, KS, Chad Carroll and wife, Lacie of Montgomery, TX, Krista Ennis and husband, Michael of Broken Arrow, OK, and Aaron Gray of Brookland, AR.
