Funeral services for Andrew Michael Racelis Sr., age 64, of Hammon, have been set for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Community Fellowship Church in Hammon, with Dolan Ivy, Gerald Panana, and Bunny Whitecrow officiating, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hammon Indian Cemetery. A traditional wake will be held Wednesday the 24th, at the Hammon Community Building starting at 7 P.M. and going all night. Andrew Michael Racelis was born October 1, 1953 in Seattle, Washington to Henry and Eva Racelis. His father was from Honolulu, Hawaii was a Master Sgt. In the United States Air Force. His mother Eva was from Chitna, Alaska of the Tlingit (Pronounced ‘Klenkit') tribe. Being a military family he was raised overseas in many different countries. Upon his fathers retirement they settled in El Paso, Texas. Andy was the oldest of six siblings, he was a member of the Holy Catholic Church, and later went to the Christian Church. Andy attended El Paso High School and was enrolled in Welding School and worked as a certified welder. He attained his CDL and worked as a truck driver in the El Paso area and surrounding states. Andy and Sandra met while she was in the Army, Stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. They were united in Holy Matrimony in 1981. From this unity they had three sons and a daughter. Andy and Sandra moved to Hammon in 1984 where he worked briefly for the Cheyenne Arapaho housing authority as a contract laborer. He was passionate with wood working as a hobby, he also learned and enjoyed to bead Cheyenne moccasins. He was always respectful and mindful of the Cheyenne ways. He enjoyed gardening and loved to Bar B Que, whether it was rain, Snow or shine. He also enjoyed watching football, he was a true Dallas Cowboy fan. Andy encouraged his family to always Believe in God and prayers, he made peace with the Lord and stated his church was his heart where the Lord is his personal savior. He was a blessing to his family, the strong arms to lean on with Sandra beside him as the heart of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Albert and Kenny. He is survived by his wife Sandra of 37 years, his sons Michael Racelis of Colorado, Jason Racelis of Hammon, Chris Racelis and his wife Sonya of Clinton, Zachary Racelis and his wife LuAnn of Hammon, and his daughter Angeline of the home. An adopted son, Brian Sevenstar of El Reno, and an adopted daughter Linda Orange of Somerset, KY., his sisters Marie Racelis from Las Vegas, and Dorothy Espinosa of El Paso, two brothers Frank Racelis from Los Angeles, and Henry Racelis Jr. of Las Vegas, 10 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, close friend and brother in law Rick Alvarado of Bentonville Arkansas, and Wesley Sevenstar of El Reno.
