Funeral Service for Barbara French, 75, Custer City resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in the First Baptist Church of Custer City, OK, officiated by Rev. Larry Bradford. Burial will conclude in the Cherry Vale Cemetery near Canton, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Barbara Jean (Dunn) French was born May 17, 1941 to Charles and Elizabeth (Newlin) Dunn in Monterey, California and passed, September 23, 2016 in the Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Barbara was raised in San Gabriel, CA where she graduated from San Gabriel High School in 1959. She was active in music, tennis, and the Honor Society. She was married to James Harold French August 3, 1963 in San Gabriel, California. She and her husband left California in 1964. Mr. French was employed with Mobile Oil and they traveled extensively and made their homes in Ohio, Oklahoma, Arkansas and then Hugoton, Kansas for 22 years. She gave her life to the Lord in 1977. She became a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Hugoton, Kansas where she was the pianist, church Clerk, co-youth leader and a worker in the AWANA children's program. She was also employed at Citizens State Bank, the cable office and Stevens County Hospital. At her husband's retirement in 1999, they moved to Custer City, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Custer City, OK. She was active in the Custer City Senior Citizens. She enjoyed camping and fishing, reading, and playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her parents, her maternal grandparents, Paul and Irene Newlin, her paternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth Dunn, all of California, and a niece, Melissa. She is survived by her husband, James, of the home, brother, William N. Dunn, Pittsburg, PA; brothers and sisters in law; several nephews and nieces and their children.
