Barbra Rose Arres

August 4, 1952 — July 27, 2022

Barbra Rose (Rush) Arres August 4, 1952-July 27, 2022 For those of you who knew and were close to Barbra, she was extremely organized and paid to detail. So much so that she wrote her own Eulogy as follows. attention I was born August 4, 1952, at home in Laverne, Oklahoma, to Virginia Spencer Rush and Evert Lee Rush as their second daughter. I had 2 sisters, Shirley Jo Rush and Peggy Lea Rush, who passed on January 27th, earlier this year 2022. We lived in Buffalo for 2 years and moved to Laverne in 1958 when I started 1st grade and stayed there until I graduated high school. I attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla. Most of my extended family still live in and around the Laverne area. After going to college for 1 year, I married and moved to Perryton, Texas. After 5 years of marriage and no children, my first husband, Robert Hoover, was killed in a car accident when I was 23 years old in 1976. I went back to college and met Pablo Arres. On April 26, 1980 I married him in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and of that marriage 2 children were born – Aaron Arres and Adam Arres. We made our home in Arapaho, Oklahoma in March of 1982 and have since that time lived here. I have worked since I graduated high school in jobs which include a factory worker in Trego’s Western Wear in Woodward the summer I graduated, a telephone operator, back in the day when there was such a thing, a line worker in a brazier factory and then in a clothing factory in Childress Texas. I have worked every low end job available from food services to factory work and worked at Southwestern while going to college both in 1970 and again in 1976. In 1979 I went to work for Arney, Barker & Coit, attorneys in Clinton, OK where I stayed until 1987 when Stephen Coit was appointed District Attorney of Custer County by Governor Bellmon to replace Russell Wright, who was indicted and convicted of distributing and using cocaine out of the DA’s office. At this point, 1/19/18 I have worked here over 30 years for 4 different DA’s, Stephen Coit, Richard Dugger, Dennis Smith, and now Angela Marsee. My babies were 5 and 6 when I started here and they spent a lot of time in the conference room watching Star Wars and Ghostbusters while I worked since we didn’t have a VCR at home. Were we poor or just tight? I have worked since 1970 except for the time from August, 1981 when my Aaron was born through January 1985. I got to spend these first precious years being a stay at home mom and I am forever grateful for that. I had been working for Arney, Barker and Coit since early in 1979 and had planned to take 6 weeks off after Aaron was born but could not make myself go back to work, so during my leave, I quit with no notice. Then in January, 1985 when I decided to go back to work, I called and they hired me back immediately. Sweet. The rest is history. Barbra is survived by her sons Aaron and Adam Arres and their families. Aaron’s wife, Ashley and their two children Acelyn and Aden Arres of Oklahoma City, OK; Adam and his children Peyton and Ryder Arres of Conroe, TX. Barbra is also survived by her older sister Shirley Mote and her three nieces: Michelle Medrano, Melissa Barnett, Misty Nelson, and her nephew Michael Mote; her niece by her late sister Tammy Miller, six great-nephews: Trevor Spence, Cameron, Carsten, and Corbin Barnett, Elijah, Jonah, and Noah Nelson, and 1 great-niece Italy Custard and two great-great nephews. Barbra loved her family and she loved being surrounded by them. It brought her great joy to be thrust in the middle of a large family gathering, surrounded by love, laughter, and the sound of children playing. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
