Barney Brown

Funeral Services for Barney Brown, 87, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 27, 2017 in the First Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Doug Lewis and Pastor Chris Fields. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Barney Lee Brown was born February 17. 1929 to Isaac Brown and Matilda (Javorsky) Brown in Weatherford, Oklahoma and passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was raised four miles west of Bessie until he was twelve, attended the Black Concord Country School except he attended years 3 and 4 at Bessie. He helped the family on the farm. Barney's father passed away when Barney was young. Barney and his mother continued to liveon the farm, milking cows, and raising chickens. Barney and his mother sold milk and cream as well as eggs to provide for their livelihood. Barney and his mother moved to Shafter California in August of 1941 and he started the 7th grade, but was moved to 8th grad in the first 4 weeks. He soon joined the Boy Scouts of American and in later years he became Assistant Scout Master in Clinton in 1949-1950. He always had a job besides his home chores starting at age 13. He and his mother returned to Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1945. He attended Weatherford High School his sophomore and junior year. He moved to Clinton his senior year in high school and he only needed one semester and he graduated in 1947. He worked for Hayden Harris Oil Company half a day and attended school half a day. He also lived at the Clinton Fire Department from August 1946 until January 1948. He stayed on the department for 20 years and served until August 1966 as a volunteer fireman.He was married to Aleen Nisle on February 1, 1948 and they made their first home in Clinton. He was employed at Sauter Automotive in Clinton as well as Smith Hardware until 1949 then he became parts manager fro for Al Dykes Chevrolet, in Weatherford, OK, commuting until February 1952. He left for the U.S. Army during the Korean War in February of 1952. He was injured and sent the next nine months at three different hospitals. He received a medical discharge in February 1953 from the Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, TX. He returned to Clinton and worked for Mahanay Brothers Auto parts and later Strange Jones. He also worked for Case Tractor Co (A Division of Tenneco Corporation), from 1976 until 1990. Aleen preceded him in death in during surgery in 1971. He later married Patricia Redmond on February 11, 1977. They continued to make their home in Clinton and built a new home on Camelot in 1980. He has been a lifelong active and faithful member of the Baptist Church, he taught Sunday school from 1949 until 2003. He spoke and ministered on KWOE Clinton Radio Station for several years. In the fall of 1987 he began serving at the Bessie Baptist Mission and he was the Lay Pastor for over four years. Since that time he has continued to teach Sunday school and serve as a deacon. He also served as Gideon speaker for about 10 years . He loved to fly airplanes and piloted form 1951 until 1965; he also flew with the Civil Air Patrol in the early fifties. He enjoyed several years of Trapshooting at the Clinton Gun Club. Besides being preceded by his first and second wife, he was preceded by his parents, a sister Annie Meget and a brother Harvey Brown. He is survived by two daughters, Debra Barrick and husband, Jeff, Arapaho and Sandra Beilue and husband, Jon Mark, Amarillo, TX; two sons, Todd Redmond and wife, Shea, Austin, TX and Ralph Redmond, Mansfield, TX. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Blake Beilue, Denver, CO, Chad Beilue, Dallas, TX, Leah Chisum and husband, Jason, Arapaho, Jenne Lowry and husband, Wheeler, Clinton, Lani Walters and husband, Clay, Canute, Emery Redmond, Austin, TX and Jack Redmond, Austin, TX; three great-grandchildren, Nislee Chisum, Mackee Jo Chisum and George Lowry, Jr. and dearest friend Donna Giles.
