Betty Whiteman

Funeral Services for Betty Whiteman, 60, former Hammon resident and now of Oklahoma City, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 8, 2017, in the Community Fellowship Church in Hammon, OK, officiated by Dolan Ivey. Burial will conclude in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery in Hammon, OK under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A traditional all night wake service will be held starting at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, May 7, 2017 in the Hammon Indian Community Building. Betty Jean Whiteman was born on March 16, 1957 to Clemmy Watkins and Marietta Whiteman in Clinton, Oklahoma, and passed away on May 2, 2017, in Oklahoma City. Betty grew up in Hammon and she attended Ft. Sill Indian School graduating in 1975. She attended heat and air school and received her certification and worked in the Oklahoma City area. She moved to the Dallas area and worked for Clark Fork Lift, she also worked as security at Richland College. She was employed as a bouncer at the Crazy Horse in Oklahoma City. She was a member of the Indian Baptist Church; She played fast pitch softball and was the first woman to hit a home run over the fence (445 feet) at Ackley Park in Elk City. She loved spending time with the several children that she helped raise. She enjoyed R & B music and cruising to the Oldies; she was a excellent pool player; she was an avid OU Sooners fan, along with OKC Thunder and watching the Redskins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alice Osage, Colleen Osage, Myra Spencer, Janice Bad Back, and two brothers, Milton Daniels, Wesley Barnett. She is survived by special friend Donnia Antuna, Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers Chester Whiteman and wife Edwina, Geary; James Davis, Oklahoma City, OK; six children that she raised Katrina Reading, Anthony Kauley, Sebastian Whiteshirt, Azha Rae Whiteshirt, Phoenix Whiteshirt, Shiloh Whiteshirt. Betty is also survived by numerous other family and friends.
