Funeral services for Bill Deutschendorf, 86, Foss resident, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 7th, 2013, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Terrell Mitchell, and burial will follow in the Foss Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. William "Bill" James Deutschendorf was born October 4, 1926, to John Henry Deutschendorf and Anna (Koop) Deutschendorf east of Cordell, Oklahoma, and left this earth to meet his sweet Jesus on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in hospice care at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Annie Askins and Lena Snider and six brothers, Fred, Hank, Sam, Max, Abe, and Dean Deutschendorf. Bill was raised with his 2 sisters and 9 brothers in Washita County and graduated from Cloud Chief High School in 1945. Bill was married to Eda Lou Fite, the love of his life, on December 16, 1950 in Oklahoma City, and they made their first home in Cordell. Bill and Lou moved to Perryton, TX, in January of 1951 where they started and raised their family. Serving God and the people around him, Bill was actively engaged with his church, and was instrumental in helping establish 2 churches in areas of Perryton where there were none. He served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, Training Union Director, and on several Church committees. He retired as Maintenance Supervisor of the Texas State Highway Department in Sherman County in 1991. He and Lou moved to Amarillo and then back to Oklahoma for their retirement years, spending much of their time as "winter Texans" in Rockport, TX. He loved the outdoors, fishing and playing tennis and golf any chance he had. His is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Eda Lou, of the home, two daughters, Beth Taylor of Woodward, OK, and Kay Trew of Foss, OK; one son, Jim Deutschendorf of Foss; three brothers, Paul Deutschendorf and his wife, Betty, of Clinton, Larry Deutschendorf and his wife, Ruby, of Alabama, and David Deutschendorf and his wife, Arva, of Newton, KS. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend.
