A Celebration of Life for Billy R. Buttry, 76, Arapaho resident, will be held 3:00 P.M., Monday, August 16, 2021 in the Custer Ave. Church of Christ, officiated by Patrick Peters and arranged by Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Billy Royce Buttry was born September 26, 1944 to Denver Royce “Tuck” Buttry and Maxine (Hutson) Buttry and passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in the River Valley Nursing Home in Clinton, OK. Billy was raised in Clinton, OK by his mother, Maxine, and the man he called “Pop”, Charlie Weems. He attended Clinton School and was a member of the 1963 graduating class. Soon after school, he began a lifetime career as a meat cutter starting at Pucket’s Food Store in Clinton. He also worked for Humpty Dumpty Stores, United Supermarkets, Safeway and Homeland Stores. He worked and lived in various places, including Enid, OK, Hammon, OK, Nebraska, Chickasha, OK and Lawton, OK before retiring and moving to Arapaho, OK. He was married to Charlotte Sanders (McDonald) on December 31, 2010 in Clinton, OK and they have made their home in Arapaho. He was a member of Clinton’s Custer Ave. Church of Christ—however growing up and through the years he was a member of the Assemblies of God where he was ordained as a minister. He was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union, Local 76; he loved the outdoors, fishing, and riding his John Deere Lawnmower; he liked to listen to country music, gospel music, and two-stepping. He loved the J.R.R. Tolkien’s Trilogy; he achieved his brown belt in karate; he loved to watch old western movies, “Dancing with the Stars”, and was an avid Oklahoma Sooners Fan. Bill really enjoyed coffee and could drink it on the coldest and hottest of days, often not giving it much time to cool. He LOVED coffee but loved the people he drank it with more! He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Maxine Weems and biological father, “Tuck” Buttry and sister, Belinda Morris. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of the home, two daughters, Tanya Buttry, Chickasha and Brittany McKnight and husband, Jake, Chickasha, OK and two sons, Brad Buttry and wife, Shelly, Cache, OK and Chris Buttry and wife, Tina, OKC, OK ; sister, Danice Crabtree and husband, David, Arapaho, OK and brother, Ronny Weems and wife, Cathy , Cordell, OK. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Mitchell Buttry, Kimberly Shorter and husband, R. C., Hannah Buttry, Shay Hammond and husband, Dr. William Hammond and April Murphy; 14 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
