"Bo" Gerald Johnston Bo was born in Pelican, Louisiana on December 30, 1935. He and his family soon made their home in Gladewater, Texas. Bo was a proud Texan. He was an outstanding athlete in football, track, basketball and other sports throughout his school years. Bo was honored by his Union Grove High School in later years as one of their most outstanding athletes in school history. Bo played football at Stephen F. Austin College and scored three touchdowns his first game. After a football injury at Kilgore College he began his oil field career of over 60 years. Bo loved being a "mud engineer" and was known for his chemical knowledge and excellence throughout the industry. Others are judged by "Bo Johnston Standards". While working in Oklahoma, Bo met Janice Kennedy. They were married in Bolivia, South America over 59 years ago. Together, they raised their two sons; John and Ron Johnston in Clinton having fun coaching little league to cheering on both their sons to "Red Tornado" State football championships. Later, best of all, Bo enjoyed being with their granddaughter and five grandsons for family vacations, their sporting events, pom, robotics competition and numerous family pool tournaments at home filled with love, laughter and lots of good food. With creative ideas and encouragement from Samantha, their daughter-in-law, Bo began refinishing and building furniture as a hobby in addition to hunting and fishing with family and dear friends, but he always took time to work at the farm and ride around on his tractor. Bo passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019. He survived by Janice, his wife; two sons and daughter-in-law. John Johnston; Dr. Ron Johnston and wife, Dr. Samantha Johnston. Six grandchildren: Taylor, Jacob, Drew, Dillon, Jonathan and Will Johnston. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wayne McPherson. Brother, Glenn and wife, Marilynn Johnston; sister, Faye Carter and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by Lois and Jack Johnston, his parents; Thomasine Winkle and Beth Hagan, his sisters; Jess and Lou Kennedy, his father-in-law and mother-in-law. Funeral mass is on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clinton, Oklahoma. Final resting is in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
