A Chapel Service for Calvin C. smith, 94, of Shell Knob, MO will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday April 25, 2019 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel in Clinton. Burial will follow in the Custer City Masonic Cemnetery. Calvin C. smith was born August 24, 1924 in Custer City, the son of Roy and Elsie (Hann) Smith. He died early Wednesday April 17, 1924 in Cox Memorial Hospital in Springfield, MO. Calvin was raised in Custer city, OK and attended school in Custer City. He worked as a farmer until the war broke out and joined the Army. Then he was sent overseas as did many young men during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army as a Tank Commander. After returning home from the war he was blessed to fall in love and marry on June 1, 1947 to his beautiful wife, Leota G. Reimers in Custer ?City. After a period of time, they decided to move to Wichita, Kansas where he found employment with Graves Truck Line. Then he and his wife of 50 years left Wichita to start a new adventure in shell Knob, MO in 1996. During Calvin's time in Shell Knob, MO he became a member of the VFW. He was liked by everyone he was in contact with. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Survivors include his children, a daughter Charlene Icenhour and her husband, George who lived in Frisco, TX; a son Michael Smith and wife June in Wichita, KS; two grandchildren Jason Smith and wife Nicole, Grand Prairie, TX and Vanessa Dondlinger and her husband, Raymond, Wichita, Kansas and four great grandchildren. He had one brother lived in Idaho. In Liu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to be made to the VFW in Shell Knob, MO under his name. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M., till 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.
