Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Heap of Birds, “ Many Magpies” 84, Geary resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Cheyenne Arapaho Community Building east of Clinton, officiated by Rev. Gerald Panana, Edgar and Wougim Heap of Birds and burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. There will be a wake service 7:00 P.M., till, 9:00 P.M., Friday, February 15, 2013 in the Koinonia Indian Mennonite Church, East of Clinton. Charles Heap of Birds was born August 11, 1928 to Guy and Alice (Red Bird) Heap of Birds in Clinton, OK and passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 in the Grace Living Center in El Reno, OK. He was raised in Clinton and attended Concho Indian School graduating in 1946 and worked at the school helping with aid to other students and driving a school bus. Charles married Margaret Hutchinson on April 12, 1951 in Clinton. He moved to Wichita, KS where he was employed with Beech Air Craft and made that his career for 28 years and retired in 1993. He and his wife moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Geary. He is a member of the Mennonite Church, he enjoyed reading, fishing and was a very competitive at hand games. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edgar Virgil Heap of Birds and a sister, Dorothy Heap of Birds McIntyre and a grandson, Samuel Sage, Jr. Charles is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Margaret, of the home, two daughters, Jean Heap of Birds, and Charlene Williams, both of El Reno, OK, four sons, Guy Heap of Birds, Edgar Heap of Birds and Shanna, OKC, Art Heap of Birds, Wichita, KS and Carl Heap of Birds, Wichita, KS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
