A Chapel Service for Chester G. Sorter, Jr., 98, long time Custer County resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 19, 2013 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Merwin Turner and burial will follow with military honors and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Chester Glen Sorter, Jr. was born February 27, 1915 to Chester and Lula Gladys (Storm) Sorter in Custer City, OK and passed away early Sunday, October 13, 2013 in the Wichita Falls, TX. C.G. was raised in Custer City and graduated from Custer City High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 26, 1942 and served during WWII. He was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945 and returned back to Oklahoma. He was married to Hester Corine Neely on October 21, 1955. His working career was with Marcy Distributing Company in Clinton retiring in December of 1978. He has been a resident of Wichita Falls, TX since 2003. He was a member of the Custer Ave. Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing as a hobby. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hester, his parents, a daughter, Clarissa Kay Smith, grandson, Michael and a sister, Deon Helm. He is survived by his son in Law, Mack Smith, a brother, Iras B. Sorter, Organ and three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
