A Graveside service for Chester "Shorty" Gorshing, 94, Custer City resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the Arapaho Cemetery, officiated by Father Chris Tran and Tom Litsch and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Chester Lewis "Shorty" Goshing was born September 9, 1921 to Fred and Dora (Buncheck) Gorshing in Bessie, Oklahoma and passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 in the Angelwood Living Center in Clinton, OK. "Shorty" Gorshing was raised in Arapaho, OK and graduated from High School in 1939. He soon enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during WWII. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, returned back to Custer County area. He worked for Raymond Lydia at the Champion Station for over 30 years, he worked for the City Department for Custer City and later he retired from the County Barn. He was married to Elizabeth Lorene Johnson on June 4, 1949 in Anthon, OK and they were married over 65 years and she preceded him in death in May of this year. He is a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Thomas, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; he also enjoyed his farming and ranching career for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and four brothers, Albert, Alfred, Francis and Cy. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Smith and husband, Gary and Kathy Luschen and husband, Dale all of Yukon. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Lindsay Hayes, and husband, Daniel, of Aurora, CO.
