Claude Leon Hostetter, Jr.

Funeral Services for Claude “Sonny” Hostetter, Jr., 92, Burns Flat resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday September 6, 2022, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Patrick Peters. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Claude Leon Hostetter, Jr., was born August 14, 1930, to Claude Leon Hostetter, Sr. and Vera Grace (Angling) Hostetter in Clinton, OK and passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, in the Clinton Veterans Center in Clinton, OK.

Sonny as he was called by family and close friends was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. While attending CHS he was active in sports especially baseball and football. He attended Claremore College and Oklahoma State University. However, before he could graduate, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served in Korea. He married Jodean Shaffer on June 14, 1952, in Clinton, OK. He was honorable discharged in 1954 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After his military career he returned home and continued his education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. He achieved his bachelor’s degree in education. His first-year teaching assignment was in Butler, OK and then he transferred to Reydon, OK where he taught Industrial Art and Science for 16 years. He has also farmed for several years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virginia Lowrance and a grandson, Kurt Lester Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Jodean, of the home, daughter, Kema Williams and husband, Tommy, Dill City, OK and three sons, Mark Hostetter and wife, Bonnie, OKC, OK, Hos Hostetter and wife, Lisa, Foss, and Chet Hostetter, Foss, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Ricky, Hostetter, Jamie Hostetter, Megan Hostetter-Weeks, Kevin Williams, Mitchell Hostetter, Hayden Hostetter and nine greatgrandchildren, Jaycie Hostetter, Justin Hostetter, Harland Hostetter, Harper Williams, Rhett Williams, Grace Williams, Cohen Weeks, Allie Weeks and Ava Weeks.
