Funeral Services for Cynthia Osage, 81, Hammon resident will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 3, 2020 in the Clinton Indian Community Building officiated by Delfred “Bunny” Whitecrow and Rev. David Flick. Burial will follow in the Chiefs Cemetery in Canton, OK under the direction of the Kiesau–Lee Funeral Home. There will be an all night wake service 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 2, 2020 in the Indian Community Building. Cynthia Dorothy Osage was born April 27, 1938 to Willis White Skunk and Maude (White Shield) White Skunk in McClure, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 in the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Cynthia was raised in the McClure area and she attended schools in Hammon, Wichita Boarding school, and the Santa Fe, NM Indian School where she graduated from high school. She also attended SIPI in Albuquerque, N.M. and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Wetherford where she received her certificate in Elementary Education. She taught special education students at the Institute of Southern Plains (Hammon Indian School) until its Closing. She was married to Chief Joseph Osage in 1952 in Sayre, Oklahoma and they made their home in Hammon, OK where they ministered the Indian Baptist Church for several years. . She was a member of the Hammon Indian Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and an after school program for young girls; she was a member of the American Indian Movement (AIMS). She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Osage, her parents, son, Augustine Osoge, six brothers Frank White Skunk, Sr., Fillimon White Skunk, Woodrow White Skunk, Edward D. White Skunk, Leon Red Bone and Virgil Swift and a sister, Viola Hatch. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Martinez and husband, Jose, and Alicia Osage, all of Hammon and a son David Osage, Manitou, CO; two brothers, Willis Todd White Skunk, Flanders, SD, Roy Bison and Regina Sask, of Canada
