Funeral Services for Dan Bates, 73, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in the Church of Christ, 2601 Custer Ave, Clinton, OK, officiated by Patrick Peters. The burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, OK, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Daniel Lee Bates was born June 1, 1951, to Richard William Bates and Sadie Belle (Campbell) Bates in Clinton, OK and passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in the Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.

Dan was raised and attended school in Clinton. He married Carolyn Lou Garner on June 4, 1971, in Clinton and she preceded him in death in 2016.

He entered the work world at an early age and was employed by J.M. Kelley working with the County Crew. He also worked for Connell Construction Company and E.E. Construction. He later became self-employed doing construction and specialized in painting.

He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ; he loved animals and especially dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Wise and husband, Don, Sand Springs, OK and Allene Bradt and husband, Rod, Duncan, OK.

He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Rickey Don Wise, Robin King and husband, Steve, Kristie Scalf and husband, Nick and Mark Fawver and wife, Shelby.
