Funeral Services for Cheyenne Priest Darryl Byrd, 46, Hammon resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the A.G. Creach High School Auditorium in Hammon, OK officiated by Rev. Dolan Ivey and Rev. Gerald Panana and burial will follow in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A traditional all night wake service will be held 7:00 P.M., all night in the Hammon Indian Community Hall in Hammon, OK. Darryl Keith Byrd was born June 25, 1967 to Amos and Sharon Ann (Standingwater) Byrd in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 in the Great Plains Regional Hospital in Elk City, Oklahoma. Darryl was raised in Hammon and attended Hammon Schools. He was employed for a number of years in the oil fields, including Unit and Triad. He also did fencing on weekends and for the past four years he was employed with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. He was a proud member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe and the Cherokee Tribe, Kit Fox Society, Red Moon Gourd Clan an outdoorsman, and he loved to fish, and hunt. He is survived by his wife, Laura Candy-Byrd, and a son, Franklin Byrd of the home, his parents, Amos and Sharon Byrd, of Hammon, OK, sisters, Brenda Byrd and Janell Byrd, both of Hammon and adopted sisters, Lavada Gould, El Reno, OK and Fiona Whiteskunk, of Hammon, OK and Theda Orange, of Hammon brother, Terry Byrd, Hammon, Wilson Standingwater and adopted brother, Wilbur Bull Coming, of Hammon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
