Funeral Services for Delmar L. Sawatzky, 78, Clinton resident will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 03, 2013 in the Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie, OK officiated by Rev. Rob Spicer and Rev. Gilbert Johnson and burial will follow in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Delmar Leroy Sawatzky was born May 14, 1935 to Otto and Marie (Mirtz) Sawatzky in Putnam, OK and passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the Grace Living Center in Clinton, OK Delmar was raised in Clinton and attended Clinton Schools graduating as Valedictorian of his class in 1953. He was very active with Future Farmers of America while in school. He soon started working for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, however only eight months into his job he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany. After his honorable discharge he returned back to Oklahoma Department of Transportation and worked as a surveyor and was sent all over the state to work. He was married to Jonnie Matthews on October 9, 1960 in Alva, OK. He later moved to Altus, OK and was employed with the Kellwood Factory where he retired. He also was employed with the Altus Athletic Sewing Company and worked for them until 1997 when he returned to Clinton. He was married to Ruby Fields-Andrews on Jun 14, 2008 in Arapaho, OK. They have made their home in Clinton. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and in his younger years he enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was p[preceded in death by his first wife, Jonnie, his parents, and a sister, Arlene Benton. He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home, son Bryan Sawatzky, Mexico, and two step children, Karen Whorton and husband, Johnny, Greenville, TX and jack Andrews, OKC, OK, a brother, Weldon Sawatzky and wife, Joyce, Clinton, his two aunts, Linda Schmidt, Clinton and WanitaSawatzky, Cordell. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jake, Amber, Jason, Jeremy and Andrew and three great-grandchildren, Deloris, Karissa and Tucker.
