Don L. Owens

A memorial service for Don L. Owens, 62, Weatherford resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by his brother, Buford Owens and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Bridgeport Cemetery. Don Louis Owens was born November 28, 1950 to LaFayette Owens and Mary (Myers) Owens in Hydro, OK and passed away unexpected Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in his Weatherford home. He was raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma and attended school there. He enlisted in the Job Corp and after his successful graduation he lived in California for about 10 years. He then moved to Washington D.C. where he was employed at Ft. Meade Army Base. He retuned to Oklahoma and settled back in Weatherford where he worked on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Campus as a cook for over 15 years. His last employment was with the Jerry’s Restaurant in Weatherford where he medically retired in 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Annie Mae Owens and a brother, Richard William Owens. He is survived by three sisters, Myrtle Owens, Atlanta, GA, Susie White and husband, Milton, Weatherford, Mary Lee Saunders and husband Terry, Fremont, CA; five brothers, Harry Owens, Weatherford, LaFayette Owens, Jr., Washington, D.C., Buford Owens, OKC, Larry Owens, Weatherford and Dale Owens, Weatherford. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
