Donnie Joy "Dixie" Rice

A Memorial Service for Dixie Rice, 69, former Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel officiated by family members and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Dixie was born in Liberal, Kansas on March 24, 1945 to Alvin James and Gloria Dixon. Shewent to be with our Lord and Savior on August 12, 2014 in Tulsa, OK after a short illness and hospital stay. Dixie grew up in the Texas Panhandle and graduated from Dumas High School in Dumas, TX, in 1963. She married Delmar Rice on August 17, 1963 to which 4 children were born. Travis Duane, Darla Alyn, Danny Alan and Brandee Deanne. She also attended Dickenson Business College in Amarillo, TX where she studied Accounting/Office Management. After raising her family Dixie moved and settled in Clinton, OK in 1999, where she raised 4 grandsons, Michael , Matthew, Marcus and Celly. She was everyones mother, grandma Dixie and friend. She never met a stranger and would sacrifice and put others before herself. She recently had moved to Claremore, OK to help Marcus and Celly go to welding school. Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Shirley Carlile, and a grandson Matthew Thomas. She is survived by her son Travis Duane Rice and wife Christine of Milan, IL, daughter Darla Orr and husband Loy of Shattuck, OK, son Danny Rice and daughter Brandee Deanne Hampshire and husband Sammy of Vidor, TX. Grandchildren Trey Rice, Brandon Orr, Keith Orr, Mike Thomas, Jaci Hawes and husband Justin, Marcus Thomas, Celly Thomas, Rowdy Rice, Rapsody Duggar, and Devon Howard. Great Grandchildren Kehli Thomas, Tuezdai Hawes, Bryleigh Thomas, Jasper Hawes and Camillia Dugger. Sister Lynae Anderson and husband Dan of Harrisonville, MO, an aunt Dorothy (Auntie) McGehee of Liberal, KS, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
