Dorothy Lorene Cheshier

Funeral Services for Dorothy L. Cheshier, 93, Clinton resident, will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2601 Cusater Ave. Church of Christ, officiated by her son in law, Patrick Peters. Burial will conclude Monday in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sulphur, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Dorothy Lorene (Work) Cheshier was born November 12, 1921 to Albert and Carrie Marie (Fraley) Work in Antlers, OK and passed away early Thursday morning, June 18, 2015 in the Cordell Christian Home in Cordell, OK. Dorothy was raised on a farm near Lindsay, OK and she graduated from Hughes Consolidated Country School. She continued her education for one semester at Central State College in Edmond. She was married to Millard Carl Cheshier on May 10, 1941 in Miami, AZ. They made their home in Miami for about two years and then returned to Oklahoma in 1943. It was during WWII and her husband was employed with MacDonnell Douglas Air Craft in Shawnee, OK. They also made their home in Erin Springs, OK before moving to Oklahoma City in 1951. Mr. Cheshier preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Larry Gene Cheshier in 2011, a sister, Gertrude Watkins and a great grand daughter, Teresa Cheshier. She is a longtime and faithful member of the Church of Christ. While she was a member of the South Walker congregation in Oklahoma City she was instrumental in putting together the Teachers Aid Center and she worked with the World Bible School for many years. She moved to Clinton in 2005 and served with the Custer Ave. Church of Christ. She was a resident of the United Methodist Health Care Center until February of this year and then moved to the Cordell Christian Home. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Peters and her husband, Patrick, of Clinton, four grandsons, Chris Peters and wife, Susan, Jeffrey Peters and wife, Zianna, and Kevin Peters and wife, Amanda and Johnny Cheshier and wife, Bridget, all of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Lauren Cheshier, Michael Peters, Aaron Peters, Jonathan Peters, Henry Peters, Hallie Peters and Lilah Peters.
