Funeral Services for Earl H. Lowder, 93, Clinton resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 6, 2014 in the Custer Ave. Church of Christ, officiated by Pat Peters and burial will follow in the Elk City Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Earl Hollis Lowder was born September 14, 1920 to Ernest Lewis Lowder and Nettie (Hollis) Lowder in Dill City, Oklahoma and passed away in his Clinton home Thursday, January 2, 2014. Mr. Lowder was raised and attended school in Clinton. He farmed for a short time in Washita County and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he ran a laundry. He was married to Opal Marie Martin on March 22, 1942 in Oklahoma City. They moved to California for 17 years and returned to Oklahoma where he owned and operated shoe stores in Clinton, Watonga, Elk City and other locations. He retired in 1985. He and his wife moved to Mobile, Alabama and lived there for about ten years and then settled back in Clinton in 2008. Earl has been a longtime active and faithful member of the Church of Christ. He has served in many capacities including preaching for 17 years and had served as one of the Elders of the Custer Ave Church of Christ for many years. He spent many hours reading and studying the Bible and was a self-taught Bible Scholar. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Linn Lowder; three sisters, Alena Mae Whitfield, Jean Jones and Pat Barnes. He is survived by his wife of over 71 years, Opal Lowder, of the home, a son, Larry Lowder and his wife, Martha, of Fair Oaks, CA and a daughter, Karen Kinsey and husband, John, of Clinton, and three grandchildren, Steve Henninger and his wife, Jennifer, of Sacramento, CA, Sarah Henninger, Fair Oaks, CA and Brandon Sanders, of Clinton, OK and two great-grandchildren, Jenna Henninger and Jagger Sanders.
