Edward Leon "Eddie" Day

Funeral Services for Edward "Eddie" Day, 85, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 15, 2015 in the Arapaho First Baptist Church, officiated by his nephew Chaplain Dan Day and Rev. Vann Leonard. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Edward Leon "Eddie" Day was born June 24, 1929, the second of four sons, to George Dennis Day and Bertha Mildred (Twyman) Day in Trail Flats, OK and passed away early Monday, January 12, 2015 in his Clinton, OK. Eddie was raised on the Trail Flats Farm and attended his first 8 years of school at Trail Flats. He then attended Leedey Schools and graduated in 1947. He married his high school sweetheart, Lola Newton, on February 27, 1949 in the First Baptist Church in Leedey and they had celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. Mr. Day continued his education at Oklahoma State University for a short time. He soon realized that he wasn't college material and began a working for area farmers. He then started a career for the Federal Government as a Soil Conservation Technician for the Soil Conservation Service retiring after 30 years. Eddie had an enjoyable life, he loved to hunt and travel. He along with his wife loved to travel in their motorhome. They managed to visit almost every state in the United States and even spent time in parts of Canada. While traveling they volunteered at the Imperial National Wildlife Park for four different winters. They also spent 22 summers working at the Fun Valley Resort in Colorado where they met and made many lifetime friends. He has been a longtime faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church and most recently a member of the Arapaho First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Charles "Chuck" Edward Day. He is survived by his wife, Lola and a grandson, Dirk, both of the home, three brothers, Bob Day and his wife, Betty, of Clinton, Don Day and his wife, Sarah, of Illinois and Charles Day of Leedey. He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews that were all very close. The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Arapaho First Baptist Church Building Fund.
