A Chapel Service for Eldon Mericle, 92, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel officiated by Patrick Peters. Burial will conclude in the Hobart Rose Cemetery in Hobart, OK. Eldon Richard Mericle was born May 17, 1922 to William Atwood Mericle and Norma Ellen (Hayden) Mericle in Weatherford, OK and passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 in the Clinton Veterans Center. Eldon was raised in Weatherford and attended Weatherford Schools. He worked until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was married to Lucille Musick and they moved to California for several year. He was employed as an Auto Mechanic. He returned back to Oklahoma and settled in Clinton. He married Leona Mae Blackwell on October 20, 1981 in Wheeler, TX. He worked at the Cotton Oil Mill and Hoffman Furniture retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Church of Christ; he spent his retirement years working part time for Dewees Sales and doing yard work and landscaping. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, a daughter, Glenda and three sisters, Gladys Fast, Virginia Ilene Riddle and Georgia Fern Frasier and two brothers, Ernest Mericle and Raymond Mericle. He is survived bythree sons, DeWayne Mericle, of Fresno, CA, Ralph Mericle, Owasso, OK and Anthony Mericle and wife, Pam, of McLeod, OK two daughters, Edie Brown and husband, Stan, and Deana Hill and husband, Greg, all of Cordell. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
