Funeral Services for Elgin V. Rhoads, 63, Clinton resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 25, 2013 in the First Baptist Church in Clinton, officiated by Chaplain Dan Day and Rev. Ramus Hicks, burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home. Elgin Vaughn Rhoads was born May 6, 1949 to Colleen Rhoads-Cometsevah in Clinton and passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. Elgin was raised as a small child in Colony and his family moved to Clinton where he attended most of his schooling. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and served in Europe, Asia and Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and returned to Clinton. He attended Auto mechanic school in Oklahoma City and worked as a mechanic in Norman, El Reno and Clinton. He Married Linda L. Lime on November 22, 1975 in El Reno, OK. He worked for coca-cola in Clinton as well as owning and operating several businesses of his own. In 2000 he began employment with the Cheyenne Arapaho Housing Authority retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Cheyenne Tribe of Oklahoma and was a Bow String Society member; he was an avid hunter, played fast pitch baseball, bowling and shooting pool. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colleen (Rhoads) and Laird Cometsevah; daughter, Sondra Rhoads, brother Frankie Goodbear, maternal grandparents, Isaac Rhoads, Sr. and Sophia (Goodblanket) Rhoads and a niece Marissa Tiger. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home, three daughters, Stephanie Woods and husband Robert, Jr., Kingfisher, OK, Mitzi Sutton, Clinton, Feather Rhoads Zuniga and husband, Horvi Zuniga, Miami, FL and three sons, Aaron Rhoads and wife, Natasha, Anadarko, Cody Zimmer and wife, Malaina, OKC, OK, Marshall Franklin and wife, Kelsey, OKC,OK; three sisters, Caroline Rhoads, Deana Fanning, both of Clinton and Kathryn Cometsevah, Topeka, KS and two brothers, Scott Sumpter and wife, Janet, Nixon, NV and Mitchell Sumpter, Clinton. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and his father-in-law, Herb Nail, El Reno, OK and sister-in-law Leta Blackhorse and husband Daniel, Clinton, OK.
