Ella Helen (Thiessen) Vogt

Funeral services for Ella Helen (Thiessen) Vogt, 93, Corn resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 17, 2017, in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, officiated by Ken Gardner and Tim Sandy. Burial will conclude in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Mrs. Vogt was born on July 9, 1924, to Henry J. and Anna (Heinrichs) Thiessen near Colony, OK and passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017, in the Corn Heritage Village. Her education began at Gyp Hill School west of Weatherford, continuing at Pioneer School, west of Colony, Corn High School in Corn, and Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. She married Herb H. Vogt on December 2, 1943, in Corn, Oklahoma. They made their home on the family farm south of Corn. By, 1950, they were a family of five, Herb, Ella, son Richard and daughters Mary Anne and Karol. Ella was an active and faithful member of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, serving in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher, Wednesday night Bible classes teacher, an Awana listener and caterer. She volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Weatherford for more than 35 years. She enjoyed membership in the Corn Senior Citizens Club, serving as secretary/treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law, J.B. Couch, her sister, Ruth Blair, and her brother, Arthur Thiessen. She is survived by son Richard and wife Cheryl, Weatherford, OK, daughter Mary Anne Couch, Corn, OK, daughter Karol Dillard and husband Charles, Weatherford, OK, foster son, Clyde Fletcher and wife Cindi, Okmulgee, OK. She is also survived by her brother in law, John E, Vogt, Hillsboro, KS and sister in law Carolyn Winter, Fairview, OK, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. The family has suggested that those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to the Et Cetera Shop, 121 North State Street, Weatherford, OK 73096.
