Funeral Services for Elsie Penner, 92, Clinton resident will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 3, 2016 in the Herold Mennonite Church in Bessie, OK, officiated by Patrick Peters. Burial will conclude in the Herold Mennonite Cemetery under the direct ion of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Elsie (Krewall) Penner was born June 27, 1924 to Edward Krewall and Augusta (Wedel) Krewall in Corn, Oklahoma and passed away early Monday, October 31, 2016 in Concordia Senior Care Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Elsie was raised and attended school in Corn, OK. She was the youngest of 13 siblings and they have all preceded her in death. Elsie was married to John W. Penner on September 4, 1940 in Clinton . They made their first home on a farm in Cordell. They later purchased a farm in Clinton and made their home until 1998. For many years they were active members of the Herold Mennonite Church in Bessie. Elsie was given a special gift, a mandolin, from her father in law, Jacob Penner. She learned to play it on her own and played it for many of her lady friends and special events. This was a very special and joyful time for her during her younger years. Elsie was an excellent seamstress and sewed all the clothes for her children. She was also employed outside the home having various jobs. Elsie and John were soul mates in their many endeavors working side by side on the farm. They were often seen together at most of the local sporting events. Elsie was a devout Christian lady and taught all her children to love the Lord and she often held devotions. She also taught her children to be kind and always care for others. Her favorite Bible Chapters were Psalms 121 and Psalms 139. Her husband preceded her in death in 1998 and she moved to Clinton beginning her many travels which became her second love. She loved her many bus tours and cruises with the Holy Lands being the highlight. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and thirteen brothers and sisters, Olga Krewall, Augusta Krewall, Lydia Krewall, Freda Krewall, Walda (Walt) Krewall, Minnie Krewall, Edward B. Krewall, Gertrude Krewall, Pauline Krewall, Adelia (Della) Krewall, Harry Krewall, Mathilda Ann (Tillie) Krewall and Martha Krewall. Elsie is survived by four children, Jim Penner and wife, Linda, Edmond, OK, Teresa Penner Schmidt and husband, Arlo, Moundridge, Kansas, Stan Penner, Livingston, TX and LoRita Penner Maddox and husband, Ken, Montgomery, Texas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Mike Penner, Matthew Penner, Jay Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Janelle Schrag, Lorie Eichelberger, Darren Schmidt, Tamara Peters, Matthew Maddox, Scott Maddox and Krystal Delph and 13 great-grandchildren. The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Herold Mennonite Church, Bessie, OK.
