Funeral Services for Evelyn Palmer, 72, Clinton resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 17, 2013 in the Tabernacle Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Wendell Folsom and burial will follow in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery in Custer City, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Eva “Evelyn” (Jones) Palmer was born August 14, 1940 to J.T. Jones and Alma (Neal) Jones in Cordell, Oklahoma and passed away unexpected Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in her Clinton home. Mrs. Palmer was raised and attended school in Cordell and Sentinel. She married Geral Palmer in 1955 in California. They made their homes on the Western Coast living in California, Washington and Organ. Mr. Palmer was tragically killed in an accident in 1960. She returned back to Oklahoma with her four small children and they settled in Sentential and married Euell James in 1963 in Altus, OK. They made their home in Sentinel and Blair. She then moved to Clinton in 1972 and had worked for the Turkey Plant, Kellwood Factory, worked for Clyde’s Restaurant and eventually owned and operated it; she spent 10 years working at the Veteran’s Center and her last place of employment was with the Del Rancho as well as cooking on Friday nights at the V.F.W. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Dennis James and Steve Palmer, a sister, Jeanie DeSpain and a grandson, Jarod Smith. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Arapaho, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for over 25 years; she loved to play Bingo, write letters, shop at the ETC Shop in Weatherford and the Ware It Again Store in Clinton; she loved spending time with her family and her passion was her 14 year old Chihuahua, Chico Rodriquez. She is survived by six daughters, Evelyn Cantrell and husband, Gene, of Elk City, OK, Cheryl Taylor, of Hydro, OK, Brenda McCormack, of Clinton, Cindy Smith and husband, Marion, of Custer City, Sharon Thompson and husband, Scott, of Clinton and Darlene Lynch, Arapaho and a son, Jerry Palmer and wife, Brenda, Cordell and her 14 year old companion dog, Chico Rodriquez, of the home; four sisters, Verna Waldron and husband, Gayle, Chickasha, Mert Weber and husband, Jim, of Arapaho, Dorothy Bebout, of Arapaho and Shirley Evans and husband, John, of Arapaho, OK, two brothers, Lloyd Kness and wife, Cora, Arapaho and David Kness and wife, Janet, of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, Amanda Cantrell, Jeremy Cantrell, Michael Palmer, Jerry Shane Palmer, Steven Cole Palmer, Ginger Smith, Jeffery Edwards, Jami Johnson, Timmy Johnson, Savanah Taylor, Ashley Creswell, Shae Lynn Creswell, Destry Smith, Destiney Smith, Jerica Calloway, Stacey Lynn Kehoe, Megan Moore, McKinsey Lee Lynch and Macy Lynch and nine great-grandchildren.
