G.C. "Buddy" Wheeler

Funeral Services for Bud Wheeler, 73, Clinton resident, former businessman, and civic leader will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 7, 2016, in the First United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Roland Youngberg. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau- Lee Funeral Home. G.C. "Buddy" Wheeler, III was born August 27, 1942 to G.C. Wheeler, Jr. and Maxine (Darnell) Wheeler in Houston, Texas and he passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 in Clinton, Oklahoma. Buddy was raised in Clinton where he attended school until the ninth grade and then he attended Western Military Academy in Alton, IL and graduated in 1960. He continued his education at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM before entering Southwestern State College in Weatherford where he majored in Art. He married Jan Dysart on December 20, 1963 in Clinton, OK where they made their home. Buddy worked for Dave Guthrie in a Men's Clothing Store and eventually became owner and operator of Guthrie's Men's Wear. He was later employed with WECI and Security Services until his retirement. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards and activities; he was active with Boy Scouts of America for many years and received numerous awards and merits for his service. He was very active in many civic organizations, including the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, served as president of Jaycee's, Lions Club and had served on many other boards activities to promote Clinton and Western, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Judy Max Bartlett. He is survived by his wife, Jan of the home, his two sons, G.C. "Cleve" Wheeler, IV and wife, Tonya, Piedmont, OK and Lance Wheeler and wife, Linda, Edmond. He is also survived by three grandsons, G.C."Quent", Wheeler, V, Evan Wheeler and Dillan Thomas Wheeler and wife, Kasalynne), a nephew Ron Hoffman and family, of Shattuck. The family has suggested those wanting to make a memorial contribution may do so to Clinton's First United Methodist Church General Fund or to the Boy Scout Troop 361 C/O First United Methodist Church, 1001 Frisco, Clinton, OK 73601.
