Genevieve Marie Haggard

Funeral Services for Genevieve Haggard, 93, Clinton will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday August 2, 2018 in the First Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor's Chris Fields and Terrill Mitchell. Burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Genevieve Marie Haggard was born January 27, 1925 to Cecil Woods and Olga Leona (Davis) Woods in Washita, County Oklahoma and passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 in the Clinton Therapy and Living Center in Clinton. Genevieve lived most of her childhood in Custer and Washita County Oklahoma, and attended school in Arapaho. She married Richard Haggard on June 29, 1942 in Cordell, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Wichita, Kansas where she worked for a grocery store. After World War II they moved back to Custer County and made their home Northwest of Arapaho where they farmed and ranched for several years. In 1972 they bought a house and moved to Clinton where they resided until her heath required her to move in to the Methodist Nursing Home. She was living in the Clinton Therapy and Living Center until she passed away. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard in 1980, daughter, Carolyn Beth Sauer and son in law, Joe Sauer; grandson's, Daniel Denell Sauer and Stephen Mark Haggard; sister, Jerrie Bracken and brother, Bob Woods. She was a long time active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church joining the church in 1944. She taught Sunday school; sang in the choir; went on numerous mission trips, serving her Lord and church in anywhere she was needed. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Haggard and wife, Carolyn, and Bob and wife, Becky, all of Clinton; a sister, Linda Adams, Santa Barbara, CA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Ministry of the First Baptist Church.
