Funeral Services for George Prairie Chief, Jr., 68, Clinton resident will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the Clinton Emergency Response Center (ERC) officiated by Pastor Gerald Panana. The Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
A traditional wake service will be held 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2023, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
George Edward Prairie Chief was born February 17, 1955, to George Edward Prairie Chief, Sr., and Happy Calf Prairie Chief and passed way Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in the Oklahoma University Medial Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
George was raised in Clinton and Weatherford and attended school at Chilocco Indian School in New Kirk, OK. He worked most of his life in the oilfields as a tool pusher. He had worked all over Western OK.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, he was a phe enjoyed going to pow wows, bead work, making chokers, doing crafts, and fishing. Roud member of the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Prairie Chief, Anabelle Prairie Chief, and a brother, Mack Prairie Chief.
He is survived by his companion, Kathy Nitch, Corpus Christi, TX, daughter, Avril Prairie Chief, Las Vegas, Nevada and son, Phillip Prairie Chief, Watonga, OK, four sisters, Georgiann Welbourne, Weatherford, Ercel Brian, Weatherford, Phyllis Prairie Chief, Clinton and Janice Boswell and husband, Frank, Weatherford, two brothers, Cedric Prairie Chief, Clinton and Eugene Prairie Chief, Woodward.
He is also survived by one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
