Funeral Services for Georgia M. Taylor, 82, Clinton resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Bethany Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Billy Mucker and burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Georgia Marie Taylor was born March 10, 1931 to George Washington Scarlett and Lillie Belle (Faines) Scarlett-Jordan in Wilcox, TX and passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, OK. Georgia was raised in Somerville, TX and Alto, TX where she also graduated from high school in 1949. While attending high school she was a standout basketball player. She met George Bowers and attended Tiltston College in Austin, TX and Phillip's Business College in Dallas, TX She moved to Clinton in the early 1950's and was married to David Griffin in 1953. She has been in nursing service most of her life, working in local nursing homes and hospitals. She married Rev. Kenneth Davis in 1959 in Ardmore, OK, however she remarried David Griffin in 1960 in Clinton. She retired in 1985 but continued her nursing service doing home health care for many local families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter, Karen Griffin-Ross, brothers, Sylvester Jordan, Lester Jordan, Roy Scarlett and Carl Jordan, brother in law, Archie D. Wright and a granddaughter, Viola Gouldsby. She was a longtime member of the Bethany Baptist Church, Heroines of Jericho Court # 37 and Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sports, gardening, cooking, canning, baking and was an expert at making pickles and jellies. She is survived by five daughters: Sharon Taylor (Bowers), OKC, OK, Cheryl Griffin-Gouldsby, Clinton, OK Davi Griffin-Murphy and husband Aubrey, OKC, OK, Antoinette "Toni" Taylor-Jones and husband, Jesse, Houston, TX and Leigh "Chelle" Taylor, OKC; sister, Mary Wright, Clinton, brother Leon Scartlett (Doris), Clinton, OK She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 45, great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
