Georgia R. Winchester

Georgia R. Winchester, age 89, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of February 9, 2014. Georgia lived most of her life in Clinton, a town that she was proud to call home. Georgia graduated from Clinton High School and Wesley School of Nursing. She married James M. Winchester, O.D., on February 4, 1951, in the First United Methodist Church of Clinton. They loved each other dearly and enjoyed the life they built together until Jim's death in 1991. Georgia found satisfaction in improving lives of others as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and community member. She shared her deep faith in God's love through unselfish acts of service and purposeful use of her many talents. Georgia was active in many church and civic activities, always a committed participant in any endeavor. Georgia especially loved being a grandmother. She would set aside all other activities in order to attend a grandchild's school program, play or graduation. In 2009, Georgia moved to Spanish cove Retirement Center in Yukon. Georgia is survived by her children James R. Winchester and wife Susan, Laura Ashabranner and husband Benton, Robert M. Winchester and wife Beth; and grandchildren Parker Winchester, Margo Winchester, Davis Winchester, and Sarah Ashabranner. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staff of Spanish Cove, Valir Hospice, and Dr. James Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Clinton Public School Foundation, First United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice. A memorial service celebrating Georgia's life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014, at 10:00 A.M., at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
