Gerald "Gade" Leon Snider

November 3, 1929 — January 7, 2018

Funeral services for Gerald "Gade" Leon Snider, 88, of Clinton, will be held, 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Katherine Scott officiating, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will conclude in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Gade was born on November 3, 1929 at home southeast of Clinton, to Joseph Glifford Snider and Ina Mae (Giles) Snider. He went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 7, 2018 at the Clinton V.A. Center, surrounded by his loving family. On October 4, 1949 he married his longtime sweetheart, Gweneth Mae McFarland. They make their home on the family farm southeast of Clinton. In 1952 Gade was drafted into the United States Army and was sent to Korea to fight for his country. While he was deployed his 1st son Darrel was born. Gade returned home to his wife and son in August of 1954. After returning home Gade and Gwen continued to grow their family with the birth of their daughter, Rene' and 2 more sons, Mark and Brian. Gade spent his life raising and supporting his family (who he absolutely adored), taking care of the family farm and working at Midwest Farmers Coop. He retired from farming at the age of 65, and then retired from Midwest Farmers Coop in 2003 due to medical issues. He was currently a member of the Chapel Hill Church. Gade enjoyed the outdoors which included camping with his family regularly, fishing, hunting, and making sure all the animals were fed. He also loved to travel and spent many years traveling with his loving wife and beloved friends in the motorhome. He spent many loving hours with his grandsons teaching them all about the outdoors, how to shoot guns, farming and of course how to run the combine. Gade was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons Darrel and Mark, brothers Dean and Don Snider, and sister Jewell Price. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gweneth of the home in Clinton, Daughter Rene' Krewall and husband Mitch of Clinton, Son Brian Snider and wife Shirley of Clinton, 1 daughter in law Ann Snider of Clinton, 6 grandsons Jason Brehm and wife Sunny of Whitesboro, TX., Shane Sells and his wife Jennifer of Weatherford, Nick Snider and girlfriend Gentri Rice of Greenfield IA., 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
