Funeral Services for Gerald "J.C." Panana, Jr., 46, Thomas resident will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 22, 2017 in the Indian Baptist Church, officiated by Pastors George Akeen and Mona Bearshield. Burial will conclude in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A traditional wake service will be held 7:00 P.M., till 9:00 P.M., Thursday, September 21, 2017 in the Clinton Indian Baptist Church. Gerald Panana, Jr. was born May 29, 1971 to Gerald, Sr. and Marcella Howling Wolf Panana in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 in the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Gerald was half Cheyenne Indian and half Jemez Indian and carried many names, he was also known as "J.C.", his Cheyenne name was Ho'nehvotoom'ahe and his Jemez name was "Santa Fe". "J.C." was raised in Dallas, TX, Thomas, OK and Arapaho. He graduated from Arapaho High School in 1989. He continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He began his working career with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma working with the Food Distribution Program at Watonga; he worked as a forestry fire fighter and most recently he drove a truck in the oil fields. He was a member of the Clinton Indian Baptist Church; the Dog Solider Clan and Kit Fox Society, enjoyed hunting, playing volleyball, basketball; and he was an avid Oklahoma University Fan and a Red Skins fan. His favorite pastime was playing with his kids and he loved animals especially his dog, Tyson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcella, Aunt, Naomi Howling Wolf, Maternal Grandparents, Leslie and Alice (All Runner) Howling Wolf and paternal grandfather, Pete Panana. He is survived by his father, Rev. Gerald Panana, Clinton, two sons, Grant Panana and Jaxon Panana, both of Clinton, three sisters, Dolena Panana, Clinton, Leslie and husband Juan Solis, and Monica All Runner Youngbear and a brother Dyrone Steven Panana and wife, Lea, Weatherford, maternal grandmother, Eva C. Panana, Jemez Pueblo, NM. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Caleb, Aizlinn, Marcella, Lexa, Cayden, Payson, Haley Marie Davien and Junior.
