Funeral Services for Gertrude B. Steffes, 83, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in the Custer Ave. Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ross Foster. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home. Gertrude Bennet (Land) Steffes was born February 18, 1932 to Clifford Land and Nettie (Newell) Land in Texarkana, OK and passed way Sunday, May 17, 2015 in the Clinton Regional Hospital in Clinton, Oklahoma. Gertrude was raised in Michigan and Oklahoma. She had moved to Oklahoma in 1948 with her family. She met her future husband Leo Edward Steffes, Jr. and they were married on June 14, 1949 in Canute, OK. They made their home in Canute where they farmed until 1956 and they moved to Clinton. They raised their children in Clinton and she loved children and worked in day care centers and baby set for others. She has been a resident of Grace Living Center since January of 2010. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; seven brothers and sisters, Joyce, Edna Mae, Linda Faye, Betty Jo, Juanell, W.C. and infant brother, Charlie and her best friend, Ella Mae Terrell. She enjoyed dancing, and keeping up with soap operas and enjoyed her animals. She is survived by, five daughters, Sally Steffes, Sharon James and spouse Bill Fleming, Rondena Williams and husband, Mark, all of Clinton, Edwina Hurley and husband, Rickey, of Tulsa Lisa Ann Woody, of Meeker; five sons, Clifford Steffes, Johnney Steffes, Gary Lynn Steffes and wife, Rita , Mickey Steffes and wife, Kathy, all of Clinton and Larry Steffes and wife, Dorie, of Virginia; two sisters, Etta Tidwell and husband, Tex, of Lubbock, TX and Peggy Land, of California. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and one on the way, 57 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and three one the way.
