Funeral Services for Gilbert Curtis, 62, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Clinton Indian Community Hall, East of Clinton. Burial will conclude in the Colony Indian Cemetery under the direction o f the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A traditional Indian Wake Service will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday in the Indian Baptist Church. Gilbert Richard Curtis was born April 11, 1954 to Richard Curtis and Lena Belle (Gould) Curtis in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 in his Clinton home. Gilbert was raised in Clinton and had attended Pryor School as well as Sipi Indian School in Albuquerque, NM. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1972. He spent his stint In the Military and then returned to Clinton. He married Inez Whiteskunk in 19767 in Cordell, OK. He has worked and lived in Clinton, OK most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Regina Marie Curtis, brother Raymond Roy Standingwater, four sisters Elaine Henry, Laura Ann Curtis, Freda Sue Heap-of-Birds and Martha Rose Standingwater. He was a member of the Indian Baptist Church; he enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and most of all his grandchildren. He is survived by his five sons, Cameron Curtis, Virgil Curtis, Guss Curtis, Eric Curtis and Gilbert Curtis, Jr.; two sisters, Sami Curtis and Brenda Riggs, both of Clinton and a brother Augustine Albert, Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
