Funeral Services for Gordon W. McAtee, 72, lifetime Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Roland Youngberg and Doyle Kinney. Burial will conclude in the Parkersburg Cemetery West of Clinton under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Gordon Wesley McAtee was born November 11, 1940 to Richard Henry McAtee and Emma Martha (Schultz) McAtee in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away early Sunday, August 11, 2013 in the Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City. Gordon was raised west of Clinton and attended Stafford Schools graduating in 1959. He continued his education at the Oklahoma State University and later transferred and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK in 1964. He was married to Darla Kay Webb in 1962 in Clinton and to this union two daughters were born, Shelley and Leslie. While attending college he worked at the Acme Brick Plant and he later worked for Dave Reilly Construction, where he eventually became General Manager. He ventured out on his own andfounded operatedGordon McAtee plumbing and construction business until his retirement. He was married to Nancy Ann Benson on July 27, 1985 on the 18th hole of the golf course in PagosaSprings, CO. They have made their home in Clinton and have enjoyed each other's companionship for over 28 years. They have enjoyed golfing and traveling together. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; he enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was an avid reader and loved to work cross word puzzles; he also enjoyed going to the horse races. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter, a sister, Mary Jo Friesen and two brothers, Harry McAtee and Franklin McAtee. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home, two daughters, Shelley Schnoor and husband, Mark, of OKC and Leslie Whittington and husband Pierson, Edmond and a step daughter, Paula Cornelius, Tuttle, step son, David Coy and wife, LaDonna, Lake Fork, TX; two sisters, Gay Nell Pyron, Stafford, OK and Glenna Anderson and husband, Alan, Owasso, OK and a brother, Mark McAtee and wife, Judy, Clinton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Melissa Mayfield and husband, Patrick, OKC, Kaela Schnoor, OKC, P.J. Whittington, Edmond and Emma Whittington, Edmond and five step-grandchildren, Richard Alcorn, Shawnee, Matt Cornelius, Yukon, Jessie Cornelius, Edmond, Brock Coy and wife, Ranae and Cara Coy, Edmond.
