Funeral Services for Grace Challis, 93, Clinton resident , will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Doug Lewis and burial will conclude in the Parkersburg Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Grace (Williams) Challis was born April 19, 1919 to Isaac and Lenora (Madole) Williams in Tres Ritos, N.M. and passed away New Years day, January 1, 2013 in the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital in Clinton, OK. Graced started her young life in New Mexico and at about the age of three she was moved to Oklahoma with her parents. They settled in Custer County and made their home in the Clinton area. She attended most of her schooling in Clinton. She helped her family on the farm, where they raised cattle and the usual farm crops where it required her to plow and work the ground. She married Mr. Raymond Challis on March 16, 1941 in Clinton. They farmed side by side for several years. She began working in food service in 1954 and continued to work at several well known eateries, including Benny’s Café, Pete’s Truck Stop, the Busy Bee, Daniels Drive Inn, S & S Drive in, and she retired from Cherokee Restaurant. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three brothers, Lester, Vernon and Wayne. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Faith, she loved to ride horse back and she rode in the 2007 Clinton Round up Parade at the age of almost 90. She has been a member of the Clinton Round up Club for many years. Her passion was her grandchildren and as well as any kid that came around. She loved to cook everyone favorite dish. She is survived by her two sons, Ray Challis and wife, Bettye, and Bill Challis and wife, Barbara; five grandchildren, Rick, Billy Don, Tonja, Sheila and Billie Jo and four great grandchildren, Cale, Colby, Challie and Nikki and an adopted granddaughter, Katlee Lehew. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lois Williams-Richardson, Lenora Anderson, Moore, Ella Mae Allen and Frances West, both of Mid West City, OK and Florence McGraw, Edmond and a brother in law, Roy Challis, Wichita Falls, TX. Visitation will start at 8:00 A.M., Friday in the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
