It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey “Dick” Sawatzky, a resident of Clinton, Oklahoma, who departed this world at the age of 87. A celebration of Dick’s life will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Randy Kiesau Chapel, situated within the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home at 2500 W. Modelle Ave., Clinton, OK. The family will hold a private burial, at a later date.
Born on November 8, 1937, to Harvey P. and Bertha (Dyck) Sawatzky in Clinton, Dick’s journey was marked by hard work. His formative years culminated at Clinton High School, after which he embarked on life’s adventures, marrying Letha Harrelson, on October 21, 1956.
Dick’s career with AT&T saw him travel to 97 cities across the United States, erecting microwave towers. Returning to Clinton, he joined the TV Cable Company as a lineman and installer, where he dedicated many years until retirement. He enjoyed helping others with farmwork. He loved woodworking with a wood lathe.
Settling on an acreage just east of Clinton, Dick created a haven filled with all manner of animals: horses, cows, goats, rabbits, chickens and turkeys. This little piece of paradise became a beloved sanctuary for his grandchildren, enriching their lives with laughter and adventure.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bertha; his wives, Letha and Phyllis; siblings, Raymond Sawatzky, Fay Webb, Jane Mueller, and Nadine Conley; son-in-law, Curt Knox. He leaves behind his son, Mark Sawatzky and wife Liz; daughter, Cherri Knox; brother, Delbert Sawatzky; sister, Katherine Barcus; as well as five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clinton Alumni Association, in Dick Sawatzky’s name. PO Box 1026, Clinton, OK 73601.
