Graveside Services for Herman Melton, 94, Butler resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in the Butler Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Roger Comstock and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Herman Lee Melton was born March 12, 1926, one of 13 children, to Albert and Linnie (Wilkes) Melton near Canute, OK and passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 in the Clinton Therapy and Living Center in Clinton, OK. Herman was raised north of Canute and attended Colter School. He joined the U.S. Army in about 1944 served in Korea two years during WWII. After his Honorable Discharge he returned back to Western Oklahoma and he was employed doing farm labor for a couple of years as well as working at the Gin. He met the love of his live, Lillian Baumgartner, while attending a youth group service and they were married on January 2, 1954. They farmed and he began a career with Custer County road crew in 1958 and he retired after 40 years of service in 1998. He and Lillian purchased their first home in Butter in 1960 and lived there until they moved to the nursing home 60 years later. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lillian and 12 brothers and sisters, Ellie, Odessa, Opal, Velma, A.L., Bill, Obie, Charlie, Albert, Arthur, Clarence and Wilburn.
