Funeral Services for Herschel Benton, Sr., 73, Clinton resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 18, 2021 in the Clinton Indian Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Gerald Panana. Burial will follow in the Clinton Indian Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A traditional wake service will be held 7:00 till 10:00 P.M., Sunday, October 17, 2021 in the Indian Baptist Church. Herschel Herbert Benton, Sr., was born November 6, 2021 to Harry Benton, Sr. and Elsie Bigbear Benton in Clinton, OK and passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Herschel was raised and attended school in Seiling. He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served in Vietnam and was injured and sent to Japan where he was honorably discharged in 1970. He married Theda Whiteman on June 17, 1971 in Oklahoma City, OK. They made their homes in Long Beach, California, Oklahoma City, OK before moving to Clinton in1977. He was a self employed carpet layer for several years. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going to the casino and listening to the oldies music. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Herschel Benton, Jr. and daughter, Joyce Benton; sister, Mary Jane Benton and two brothers, Lester Ray Benton and Ronnie Benton and a nephew, Tom Benton. He is survived by two daughters, Leah Littlehawk, Weatherford and Yvonne Benton and husband, Floyd Blackbear, Seiling; three sons, Oliver Whitecrow, Clinton, Brandon Benton, Sr., Seiling and Harry Bodiker-Benton, Ponca City, OK. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Albert Anuario, Clinton.
