Funeral services for Hoyt Ray Phillips, Sr., 81, longtime Arapaho resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the First Christian Church officiated by Wendell Folsom and burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Hoyt Ray Phillips Sr., was born October 29, 1930 to Paton G. and Mallie (McSwain) Phillips in Okfuskee County and passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 in his home in Arapaho, Oklahoma. Hoyt was raised in Okfuskee County and he moved to Arapaho in the 5th grade. He married the former Miss Mary Merdith on January 21, 1951 in Arapaho, Oklahoma. They made their home in Arapaho and Hoyt started his long career at ODOT. Hoyt was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed raising show pigeons and singing. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Hoyt is survived by his wife Mary of the home, 2 daughters Brenda Gail Miller and husband Larry of Ansonia, Ohio, Linda Raye Hardin and husband Lee of Mena, Arkansas and one son Hoyt Phillips, Jr., and wife Sue of Clinton, Oklahoma, also survived by 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
