Funeral Services for Imogene Blackbear, 50, Thomas resident will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Community Hall in Watonga, OK, officiated by Cheyenne Traditional Speakers. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Watonga, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A Traditional Indian Wake Service will be held 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in the Community Building. Imogene Elizabeth Blackbear was born on September 4, 1964 in Clinton, OK to Stella Bessie RomanNose Blackbear and Eugene Blackbear, Sr. and passed away November 1, 2014 in her home in Thomas, OK. She grew up around Watonga, OK and attended high school in Weatherford, OK and was a member of the 1982 graduating class. She also went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a few years. She traveled around Oklahoma until she settled in Thomas, OK where she's lived for the past 14 years. She learned to do bead work at an early age and continued on with it throughout her life. She beaded many things such as traditional Cheyenne moccasins, buckskin dresses as well as many other items which she learned from Mary Underwood. She passed this craft down to her children and a few other close friends. She loved her Cheyenne way of life and was active as much as possible. Imogene is survived by her mother Stella Bessie(Roman Nose) Blackbear; four children: Jaimie Coley and Shane Yellow Eagle, of Thomas, Avril Logan and Deonta, of Weatherford, Phillip Prairie Chief and Michelle Warledo, of Weatherford, and Ray Blackbear Lopez, of Thomas; 3 Grandchildren: Shane II, Elizabeth, Zeydon, and one on the way; Sisters: Roberta Osage, Wilma and Malcolm Whitebird, Ida and Kenneth Parton; Brothers: Eugene Jr and Aurelia Blackbear, Rex and Phyllis Blackbear, Ralph and Senoria Blackbear, Fred Blackbear, and Larry and Pauline RomanNose; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father Eugene Blackbear Sr., Brother Anthony Taua, and sister Frances Doctor.
