A Mass of Christian Burial for Ira Rayner, 100, Clinton businessman will be held 10:00 Friday, January 24, 2020 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated by Father Balaswamy Mandagiri. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held 6:00 P.M., Thursday, January 23, 2020 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel. Ira Lee Rayner was born May 21, 1919 to Frank and Mabel (Hall) Rayner in Custer City, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday, January 19, 2020 in the Oklahoma University Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Mr. Rayner was raised in the Custer City area and he starting working at the age of three, feeding the animals and at the age of five he started rounding up and milking the cows. He attended his first school at Prairie View and transferred to Independence School and then graduated from Arapaho High School in 1938. He joined the U.S Army in 1941 serving during WWII and served in several foreign countries including, England, Australia, Germany and France. He met and married Mary Mitchell while in London England and they were married December 9, 1944. He was honorably discharged in 1945. They returned to Custer County and he first farmed and worked for Collins and Maddox Feed Store and then he worked for Singer Sewing Machine for 20 years. He owned and operated a sewing machine shop in downtown Clinton and worked it until he was almost 99 years old. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he enjoyed the outdoors, going to the lake, and boating. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary; four brothers, Benjamin Rayner, Don Rayner, Ray Rayner, Keith Rayner; five sisters, Marie Rayner, Betty Townsend, Alta Mae Sauerman, Bonnie Clindtoning and Beulah Rayner. He is survived by four sons, Ira Terrance Rayner, California, Robert Francis Rayner, Oklahoma City, OK, Chris Rayner, Clinton, OK, and Danny Rayner and wife Jeanette of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jonathan Rayner, Brandon Rayner, Brian Rayner, Matthew Rayner, Lilliana Keding, Danielle Dodson and Michelle Adams; and four great-grandchildren, George, Zachary, Anabella and Apollo.
