Penner. Burial will conclude in the Corn Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee funeral Home. Irene Penner, 93, of Corn, Oklahoma, passed away on October 23, 2020 at the Corn Heritage Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, D.C. and Helen Kroeker as well as her husband, Marion Penner. She was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on February 11, 1927 to D.C. and Helen Kroeker. Irene was saved at a revival meeting On October 18, 1942 and was baptized at a dam by Reverend J.J. Wiebe. She attended Sparta Grade School southwest of Corn, Corn High School and Corn Bible Academy. Irene was united in holy matrimony to Marion Penner on June 9, 1946 by Rev. J.K. Warkentin. Their union was blessed with two children, Phyllis and Roger. They settled one mile west of Corn where she helped Marion on their farm. Their home was hit by a tornado on June 8, 1951. The house was saved but all other buildings were destroyed. They later moved three and a half miles west of Corn to raise their family, run a dairy and continue farming. This home was also hit by a tornado on January 29, 2013. The house again was saved, but destroyed several buildings as well as the silo. Through all the adversity they faced, their marriage stood strong for 61 years. For many years Irene taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School at the Corn M.B. Church where she was a lifelong member. Irene and Marion were both involved with the Catering Committee as well as the MCC Sale where she helped with making mustard, verenika and baked goods as well as working in the meat booth. Eischens was a favorite spot to eat at after working at the MCC Sale. Irene was actively involved with Post 300 American Legion Auxiliary where she served as their secretary for many years. You could regularly find her serving cookies at the Clinton V.A., or pushing the snack cart at the nursing home. As a result of Irene's love for socializing, you might find her volunteering her time tagging items at the Et Cetra shop, calling Bingo at the Corn Heritage Nursing Home, enjoying a slice of pizza with her family on Sunday evenings or attending the Jamboree in Clinton. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother that enjoyed baking and passed that skill onto her grandchildren. Irene was always ready to play board games, dominoes, watch basketball, the game show network and American Ninja Warrior. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by the lives of her children: Phyllis Meyer and her husband, Don of Clinton; Roger Penner and his wife, Cindy of Weatherford; five grandchildren, Tonya Taylor and her husband, Greg of Yukon; Tricia Riley and her husband, Charles of Weatherford; Tiffaney Baker and her husband, David of Andrews, Texas; Cody Penner and his wife, Randi of Purcell; Jared Penner of Corn, five great grandchildren; Hunter, Sierra, Madyson, Reid and Penelope as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
